Single Class: Pushing & Breathing in Birth April 24, 2024

Tearing your lady bits in labor is one of scariest parts of birth, but there are things you can do to reduce the chances of it happening to you! Pushing for hours and hours contraire to what you commonly hear online-- learn how!

Pushing like you are taking a poop, pushing when your baby is too high up, or pushing with too heavy of an epidural are big no-no’s and we are stepping you through exactly how to avoid pushing for hours and hours!

In this class, you will learn:

  • How to evaluate when you are ready to push and how to engage in spontaneous pushing which yields shorter push times and better neonatal outcomes than provider guided pushing.
  • Understand the anatomy of your body that is designed to push out your baby (fun fact: it's not your pelvic floor).
  • How your partner can best support you in each stage of labor to be comfortable in labor, helpful tools that will act as pain relief, and your many options of medical pain relief.
  • Labor & birth positions that are helpful for medicated and unmedicated birth so you can reduce the risk of tearing! Plus pros & cons of each labor & birth position so you can feel confident in choosing what feels best to you.
  • How an epidural may impact your labor and how you can reduce your risk of a cesarean when choosing an epidural!

You will also have time to experience some hands on practice in varying labor and birth positions for you and your partner to practice your new skills!

It doesn't matter your birth goals-- this class is for people who want an unmedicated or medicated experience!
